In the modern sports world, knowing how to communicate is as crucial as knowing how to play the game. In an age dominated by the media, the figure of the sports communicator has become central: knowing how to convey emotions, analyze the game, and manage the dynamics of an interview or talk show is an increasingly in-demand skill, particularly in the context of soccer, Serie A, the Italian national team, and all competitions that capture the attention of the general public.
That's why the Cattaneo Talk Show Lab was created, a hands-on, immersive workshop created by the Academy of Sport, giving our trainees the unique opportunity to work together with one of Italy's most prominent sports journalists, a well-known face of broadcasts dedicated to Serie A, international soccer, Champions League and major events such as the National Team's European and World Cups.

ToggleA hands-on workshop, a real television studio
The Cattaneo Talk Show Lab was not just a theoretical seminar, but a real live simulation of a football talk show, complete with lights, cameras, setlists and debates on topical issues: from the performance of the Italian national team in the latest competitions, to the future of the Serie A league, passing through the key figures of modern soccer such as coaches, sports directors, journalists and pundits.
Participants learned to:
Explain yourself correctly on video, with appropriate posture and tone of voice;
Answering complex questions in front of a camera;
Managing a debate among multiple voices, respecting timing and roles;
Effectively communicate a technical or tactical concept related to soccer;
Working with an editorial team to build sports content.
A unique opportunity to enter the world of soccer journalism
The presence of Cattaneo, a professional with experience in some of the most influential newspapers in the country, added immense value to the experience. With his guidance, our trainees touched on what it really means to work in professional sports communication, understanding the editorial, television and digital dynamics that govern major events such as Serie A or national team matches.
Through concrete exercises, realistic simulations and direct comparisons, the workshop enabled students to:
Understand the differences between sports reporting and opinion;
Analyze the language of major TV talk shows devoted to soccer;
Building one's own communicative identity, expendable in the world of work.
Communicating soccer today: a skill increasingly in demand
In an age when every soccer game is watched by millions of people on TV, online and social media, sports communication is no longer just a "frame," but an integral part of the show.
Knowing how to narrate the game, interpreting the emotions of the field, conveying technical content with accessible language: these are the skills required for those who want to work in the world of soccer, whether as a journalist, speaker, social media manager, press officer or video content creator.
And it is from these real needs that our approach was born: hands-on training, with professionals in the field, to prepare the sports communicators of tomorrow.
A formation that makes a difference
The Cattaneo Talk Show Lab is just one of the many projects implemented by the Academy of Sport to provide concrete, experiential, and job-oriented training.
For those who dream of a career in sports communication, soccer journalism, media or professional Serie A or Italian national team clubs, this workshop is a key training piece, capable of opening doors and creating new professional opportunities.
